<div itemprop="description">Sister Joan Budzik (Sister St. Joan Katherine)- Peacefully at Providence Motherhouse, Kingston, ON, Sister Joan Budzik of the Congregation of Notre Dame, died on August 18, 2015 in her eightieth year. She was predeceased by her parents Peter Budzik and Helen Tobias and by her sister Renie Irene Chaitman. She is survived by her brother Peter Budzik, his wife Mimi, her nephews John, Michael and James Budzik and her nieces Claire Fyfe, Barbara Chaitman and Susan Augustymski. Sister Joan will be fondly remembered by members of her religious community, former students and collaborators in education and health ministries. Born in Montreal, QC Sister entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1960, making her Religious Profession in 1962. For several years she served as a teacher of Chemistry, Math and Science at Notre Dame Convent and at the Campanile Campus in Ottawa ON and at Marianopolis College, Montreal. In 1978 she began a new ministry in Hospital Pastoral Care beginning at Peterborough Civic Hospital, followed by Hotel Dieu Hospital, Cornwall, and then moving to St. Mary&rsquo;s of the Lake Hospital in Kingston where she was Coordinator of Pastoral Care from 1992 until 2001. Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 435 Davis Drive, (Taylor Kidd Blvd and Centennial Drive) on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 pm and from 7:00-9:00 pm with Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Church, 392 Palace Road on Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 am. The Rite of Committal will take place at a later time in St. Mary&rsquo;s Cemetery, Kingston, ON. <br /><br /></div>
