During a leave from the Air Force Reserve Officer’s Training Program he completed his Masters in Mathematics at the University of Nebraska. He met Mary Alice Andrews in Nebraska and they were married on December 21, 1963. Ron was posted first to Summerside, P.E.I., then to Ottawa. Once he left the Air Force in 1968 he joined the Math Department at St. Lawrence College in Kingston. He taught at St. Lawrence until he retired in 1998, a year after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Ron and Mary took two sabbaticals, one to Regina in the mid 1970’s for two years, and another to Ballarat, Australia from 1986-7. Ron fell in love with Australia and returned there several times.
