<div itemprop="description">OOSTERMAN, Cornelis Wilhelmus (Neil)<br /> October 19, 1922 - December 18, 2015<br /> <br />Neil Oosterman passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2015 at his home in Kingston, Ontario at the age of 93. He is missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Janie (Adriana Agatha Kwakkenbos) his children Peter (Mary Ann), Adrian (Bonita Ubell), Richard (Francine), Rosemary Lutz (Doug) and Nanci Corrigan (John), as well as 10 grandchildren, Andrew Oosterman, Alisha Scott (Craig), Michelle Ross (Mark) Amanda Oosterman (Jordan Lavin), Emily Lutz (Jordan Whitehouse), Thomas Oosterman (KayAnn Maclean), Jordan Oosterman, Jonathan Oosterman, Conor Corrigan and Molly Corrigan, and 3 great-grandchildren (Arianna Scott, Owen Scott and Miles Lavin). He was predeceased by his son Leo Joseph. <br /><br />Neil was born on October 19, 1922 in Aarlanderveen, Holland to Petrus Oosterman and Cornelia Mesman, one of nine children. He and Janie married in April 1952 and moved to Canada shortly after their wedding. Together, they founded Neil's Flowers and Greenhouses in 1961, a well-known Kingston business that is still successful today and is now managed by their sons Peter and Richard. Neil loved to travel with Janie, and together they enjoyed many vacations around the world. He also loved being with his friends and family, playing billiards, celebrating special occasions and especially getting to know his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.<br /> <br />Neil's family will receive friends at GORDON F. TOMPKINS FUNERAL HOME, 436 Davis Drive (Centennial Dr. and Taylor-Kidd Blvd.) on Monday, December 21st. from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, Palace Road, on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. rite of Committal with prayers in St. Mary's Cemetery.<br /> <br />If desired, donations may be made in Neil's memory to the Hospice Kingston Building Campaign.
