Peacefully at home on Wednesday July 13, 2016 in his 86th year. Loving husband to Joan (nee Wilson) of 65 years. Loving father to John (Penny) of Calgary, Janet (Maurio) Ruffolo. Cherished Poppa to Charlie-Mae, Sierra (Christopher), Marcus, Fallon and great Poppa to Tyrus. Survived by sister Shirley McDonald. Survived by nieces and nephews.
He was an avid sports fan; loved baseball and hockey especially watching his grandchildren play sports. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him as a very kind and gentle man.
Family and friends will be received at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home - Township Chapel 435 Davis Drive (Taylor Kidd Blvd. & Centennial Drive) on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Apostle Church, 88 Patrick St., on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Rite of committal prayers will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the U.H.K.F. - South Eastern Ontario Cancer Clinic or to U.H.K.F. St. Mary's of the Lake Palliative Care Program.
