<div itemprop="description"><br />DE SOUSA, JOAO CARLOS &quot;John&quot; <br /> <br />Peacefully at home, surrounded by his dedicated, loving family on Thursday, June 25, 2015. Joao Carlos was 72 years old. Joao Carlos is the cherished husband and eternal soulmate of Maria Evelina de Sousa his wife of 52 years. Loving and devoted father of John DeSousa (Jane), Ana Rand (Ian) and Samuel DeSousa (Tina). Precious Vavo of Dylan, Keenan and Tyson Stillar DeSousa and Stephanie and Jillian Rand. Special Vavo to Brittany and Harrison Rand and Katie and Chris Inalsingh. Joao Carlos was predeceased by his parents Manuel and Maria Jose de Sousa, his brother Manuel Mateus and sister Adelaide de Sousa. He will be deeply missed by his loving sister Olivia Mateus (the late Carlos) in Toronto. Fondly remembered by his sister and brother-in-law Maria Jose and John Luis da Costa, Kingston, sister-in-law Maria Natalia Sousa ( the late John) from Kingston, and the late Eduarda and Manuel Jesus, Ana da Costa ( the late Duarte) from Toronto, and many nieces and nephews in Kingston and Portugal including the late Michael Jesus. <br /> <br />Joao Carlos touched many lives. He treated everyone he met with dignity and respect. Never did he utter an unkind word about anyone. To honour the memory of this amazing man, the family asks in Joao Carlos words, &quot;please be good to one another.&quot; <br /> <br />Friends will be received at the GORDON F. TOMPKINS FUNERAL HOME, 435 Davis Drive (Centennial Drive and Taylor-Kidd Blvd) on Sunday, June 28th from 6-9 p.m. <br /> <br />Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 588 Division Street on Monday, June 29th, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Rite of Committal with prayers in St. Mary's Cemetery. <br /> <br />On line condolences with Sharing Memories at www.gftompkins-township.ca</div>
