Ottenhof, Harry

On the evening of August 26th Harry Ottenhof passed away. Harry is survived by his wife of 54 years Moira (nee Kearns), his three children, Stephen (Mary), Richard (Sue), and Brenda (Patrick), and five grand children. Born in Amsterdam in 1941, he came to Canada with his parents, John and Nellie, and nine siblings on the M.S. Kota Inten in 1948. He knew what it meant to work hard, working from a young age on the family farm, building many of Kingston’s landmarks as a stonemason, feeding the community at Salmagundi, and maintaining a sharp hedge into retirement. Harry loved laughing and visiting with his siblings, family and friends. He was a Rotarian, avid golfer, country music fan and devout member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Harry was the best armchair cold case detective there ever was. The family is grateful for Dr. Hamilton, Dr. Messenger and their outstanding team of nurses. Your combined expertise and compassion was noted by all. Friends will be received at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 435 Davis Drive (at Centennial) on Monday, August 29, 2016 between the hours of 2-5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Days Road, on Tuesday August 30, at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Foundation and Kingston General Hospital.
